What happens if my physician and the second opinion physician disagree?

If your physician and the second opinion physician disagree about the extent of your injury the OWCP is tasked with selecting a “referee physician”. The “referee physician” must be impartial and located within a reasonable geographic distance from you. The physician should be board certified, but in some instances OWCP will select a non-board-certified physician if they are uniquely qualified for a particular type of examination.

If your federal workers’ compensation case requires an appeal or a “referee physician” you may benefit from an attorney’s counsel. Call Attorney Alan J. Shapiro today.
