An agency may request that its employee submit to a medical examination.  However, the agency must lay out their request rather specifically:  1) The agency must follow the right rules.  2)  The agency must follow correct exam procedures.  3)  The agency must work with OWCP. The agency must clearly demonstrate the use and necessity of the requested information.  4)  The agency needs to identify the medical and/or physical requirements of any position that the claimant may be offered.  5)  Follow the rules for non-employment medical problems.  5)  Maintain all medical information in a separate and highly confidential folder.  In summary the agency cannot just go about gathering medical information.  Every type of request is strictly regulated.
